Three Scholarships Awarded

Pointe Pest Control has awarded three scholarships to outstanding students in Washington, Idaho and Oregon for the 2014-2015 school year.

2015 is the inaugural year for the Pointe Pest Control Scholarship Program. “At Pointe Pest Control we believe in giving back to the communities we serve and this is just one of the ways we can accomplish our mission;” said Jacob Borg, President of Pointe Pest Control.
Scholars were selected based on academics, scholastic achievements, extra curricular activities and financial need. Scholars received a check for $750 to use as needed for their college expenses.

The winners are:

• For Idaho: Amanda Westlake of Post Falls High School.
• For Oregon: Holly Duvall of South Salem High School.
• For Washington: Spencer Jensen of Central Valley High School.

Throughout her academic journey, Amanda enrolled in several honors level courses and in every case exceeded expectations. In addition, Amanda has been a consistent standout in athletics. She was chosen to be Co-Captain of the Varsity Volleyball Team and was awarded Most Inspirational Player of the 2014-15 school year.

Outside of school, Amanda volunteered at homeless shelters and the Special Needs Ironman Triathlon, as well as coached several upcoming athletes. She has a huge heart and a drive to succeed that is an inspiration to all who know her.

Holly was a standout in academics. She is fluent in Japanese and has dedicated her spare time to helping Japanese students learn the American culture, as well as helping American students learn the Japanese culture.

Spencer Jensen

Spencer focused his academic efforts on several Advanced Placement courses, while simultaneously learning the French language. In addition, he was a valued member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams.

Outside the classroom, Spencer earned his status as an Eagle Scout, in addition to helping with Key Club Activities, volunteering at local food banks, and participating in a thorough cleaning of the community cemetery.

We congratulate each one of them on their outstanding achievements and the positive contributions they have made and will continue to make in their communities.
