After reviewing scholarship applications from Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, Pointe Pest Control has awarded a $750 scholarship to one student from each of the three states. This is the third year that Pointe Pest Control has given back to the community by helping young people with the expenses of college. “At Pointe Pest Control we believe in giving back to the communities we serve and this is just one of the ways we can accomplish our mission,” said Jacob Borg, President of Pointe Pest Control.
We reviewed the applications and narrowed the entries down based on scholastic achievements, academics, extra-curricular activities, and the student’s financial need.
This year’s scholarship recipients are:
Idaho: Kylie Paquette
Oregon: Claire Lehnert
Washington: Colby Sooy
Kylie Paquette:
Volunteering to create and teach a music class in her community to children, as well as being involved in her high school’s A Cappella team, were a few reasons that Kylie stood out to us. She plans to attend Gonzaga University to become a music teacher.
Claire Lehnert:
Claire’s intense course work and involvement in many extra-curricular activities, including Cross Country, Track, and Choir, impressed us after learning she also holds a 3.96 GPA. She plans to attend Seattle Pacific University and study to become either an advertiser or interior designer.
Colby Sooy:
Colby’s involvement in extra-curricular activities, including Football, Track, Chess Club, and 4-H, could not go unnoticed. He strived to be involved both in his community as well as in his school. Colby wants to go to college to study Agribusiness and become a farmer.
“These three graduates are shining examples of Excellence in Action and the core values our employees exemplify each day,” said Borg. “We congratulate each one of them on their outstanding achievements and the positive contributions they have made and will continue to make in their communities. We look forward to many more years of rewarding students with the Pointe Pest Control Scholarship Program.”
