The Common Yellow Sac Spiders

One of the most common types of spider that you will find wandering around in your home is the Yellow Sac Spider. While they are happy to live outside, they are well adapted to live inside of your home as well. When you find that your home has been overrun by yellow sac spiders, you can count on the professional spider eradication services from Pointe Pest Control.

General Information

Yellow sac spiders are a distinctive light yellow to greenish color. Their coloring can change slightly depending on their diet. If the yellow sac spider consumes a fly, it will become a greyish yellow color. If they eat fruit flies, their coloring will be more of a dark yellow to beige, or even yellowish red. One of the best ways to identify the yellow sac spider is to look for their characteristic sleeping bag webs. Yellow sac spiders actively hunt during the night. During daylight hours, they prefer to hide in small web sacs. The most common place to find these sacs is along the top of your walls where the ceiling meets. The yellow sac spider will hide out in these sacs to keep them safe from potential predators.

The Signs of an Infestation

The best sign of an infestation of yellow sac spiders is to find their sleeping bag like sacs. In homes, the most common location is along corners where two walls meet, or where your walls meet your ceilings. Out in your yard, the yellow sac spider will create their sleeping bag sacs in leaves, vegetation, or debris. The biggest problem with yellow sac spiders is the predisposition for biting. Most spiders will only bite when they feel threatened, yet the yellow sac spider will bite you for no reason at all. Yellow sac spiders have been seen biting people multiple times as they wander across unprotected skin. The only other sign of having an infestation is seeing yellow sac spiders inside of your home.

Treatment

There are a few things you can do to reduce the risk of getting yellow sac spiders. Make certain that your foundation is sealed up. Use the appropriate caulk to fill in any gaps. The same can be said about any spaces around your windows and doors. Still though, even when you take the steps to seal up your home, yellow sac spiders can still find their way into your home. The good news is that you don’t have live with spiders in your home. When you contact Pointe Pest Control you can count on our effective treatment options. Eliminating spiders is what we do best.
