The Best Spider Control in Redmond

While some folks are downright terrified of spiders, others believe that they are good to have around the house because they feed on other annoying invasive insects. The problem with that line of thinking is that spiders will only set up shop places where there are a lot of annoying invasive insects. In other words, your home makes for a good hunting ground. That’s probably not what you’re shooting for.

In addition, chances are, if you have spiders, they’re coming the same way those other annoying creatures did: through cracks in your foundation, holes between windows, holes in screens, or cracks between doors and floors.

While most spiders are not dangerous, the brown recluse and the black widow can both cause serious medical issues for you or your family members and will require medical treatment to manage their venom. Your best bet for avoiding spiders is to avoid the insects that they feed on.

Pointe Pest Control can help you manage your spider problem. Our thorough process of dealing with infestations includes a full inspection and a list of recommendations for avoiding future problems. If you have a spider infestation in your home, give us a call to set up an appointment today with our Redmond spider control professionals.

Ways to Deal with a Spider Infestation

While calling a certified pest removal specialist is always the best first step, the process immediately afterward will involve preventative measures that only you can take. Your job will be to make your home unattractive to spiders. The best way to do that is to make your home unattractive to the insects that spiders feed on. Below are some helpful ways that you can help prevent future infestations.

  • It’s time to clean house. We’re not saying that your home is a filthy pigsty. Far be it for us to judge the relative cleanliness of another person’s home. What we are saying is that those who leave dishes sitting for too long, standing water out, and crumbs on the countertops are not putting themselves in a very good position to manage their spider problem. Each of these will attract various kinds of insects (like flies and ants) that are drawn to those types of foodstuffs. So in the spring and throughout the summertime, you want to be extra vigilant about cleaning your cabinets, making sure your foodstuffs are sealed, and not letting dishes pile up.
  • Seal the exterior of your home. A good time to seal your home is at first thaw. Once the snow starts to melt and the birds begin chirping, you want to go around the permitted of your home and make sure you’re not giving bugs or rodents an easy way to access. Make sure there aren’t any holes in your screens either!
  • Remove excess foliage from around your home. Spiders really like your bushes. If they like your bushes more than you like your bushes, then you should just get rid of the bushes. If you really like your bushes, you can spray around there. You will want to remove excess shrubbery around your home, however, since insects are drawn to dark places and so are spiders. One thing that you can do to help yourself is to place dichotomous earth around your shrubbery. It won’t hurt you, but it will kill spiders.
  • Beware of lights. Spiders don’t really care about light but the stuff they feed on has a real affinity for it. Therefore, spiders will be drawn to things like flood lights outside your home. You can avoid this by simply turning them off or, once again, strategically placing dichotomous earth.
  • Give the spiders a foul-smelling home. Things that don’t bother you so much like eucalyptus, mint, and citrus are really upsetting to spiders. They are the spider equivalent of flatulence in an elevator. You can use a spray bottle to deploy foul smells strategically around your home.
  • Spidercide. You can use spidercide around your home, but there are other methods that are just as effective and are less likely to harm pets or children. Deploy with care.
